Distribution

These are dry, mixed, evergreen, broad-leaved and deciduous forests. These forests occur in lower reaches of Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur districts and also extend upto Muzaffarabad along with the River Jhelum.

Common Species

Olive (Oleaferruginea) Phulai (Acacia modesta), Shisam (Dalbergiasissoo )Kangar (Pistaciaintegerrima) Bhaikar (Adhatodavasica) Sanatha (Dodoneaviscosa) Patakhi (Maytenusroyleanus) Garanda ( Carissa spinarum)

2. Sub Tropical Pine Forests.

Distribution

Open inflammable pure Chir-pine forests occur in Mirpur, Kotli areas and also extend upto the sub-mountainous tract of Sudhanoti, Poonch and Muzaffarabad districts.

25-50 inches. (635-1270mm)

Common Species

The only coniferous species available in these forests is Pine (Pinusroxburghii). Common broad-leaved species available in patches or pockets are Olive (Oleaferruginea), Timber (Xanthoxylumalatum), Darun (Punicagranatum) Fig (Ficuspalmata), Sanatha (Dodoneaviscosa). Chotamehndru (Myrsineafricana), Sumblu (Berberislycium) Kamella (Mallotusphillipinensis)
